Faith Over Fear...the words are everywhere, on T-shirts, in sermons, and even on tattoos, but what does Faith Over Fear really even mean? And what is faith? According to Hebrews 11:1, "Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
At our photo studio we have this pretty awesome looking, white wicker chair. In the past we have taken some classy senior photos in that white wicker chair. But something has happened to it recently. It has changed, not in an obvious way at first glance, but it has definitely changed. I no longer have faith in that chair. Oh, I have faith. Just not when it comes to the white, wicker chair.
Seeing this phrase everywhere causes me to wonder...as long as I have some kind of faith, does it matter who or what my faith is in? Well, in the case of the white, wicker chair, I could have all the faith in the world that thing would hold me up, but because some of the wicker pieces by the legs are not attached anymore and it gives when I sit in it, faith in that chair is just not a good idea.
